Hardware Products
Galleon Atomic Clocks are easy to install and use. They interface with your computer via a serial port and driver software is available for virtually any platform: Windows 2000, NOVELL, Windows NT, 95 & 98, Windows 3.1x, VMS and UNIX.
There are two types of Galleon Atomic Clock, a entry level battery powered Workstation ARC (Atomic Radio Clock) which receives and decodes the radio time signal then via a display shows the time, date and signal strength and via a serial interface communicates with the computer to update the computers time. The atomic clock receives the time signal directly from the National Standard time source so can be set as a Stratum 1 time source.
The second Galleon Atomic Clock is a mains powered Server ARC, with remote antenna. It has the features of the entry level Workstation ARC with the addition of a remote antenna which allows the radio time signal receiving electronics to be positioned at a location where a good radio signal can be obtained, this can be up to 150m (500ft) away from the server, also the unit is mains powered rather then battery powered so you are able to fit and forget. The Server ARC consists of two units the remote antenna to receive the radio time signal and the micro-controller that is positioned next to your server, this contains a real time clock which is continually re-calibrated against the Atomic Time signal with a display to show the time, date and signal strength and via a serial interface communicates with the computer to update the computers time. Guaranteed to obtain a signal
There is a third Time Synchronisation product available from Galleon which is the GPS Satellite Clock this uses the 24 GPS satellites that orbit the Earth. The product obtains the UTC time from the GPS satellites and Galleon uses this time source to update the time in computers. Using GPS we can synchronise the time on a computer anywhere in the world to fractions of a second.
Software Drivers Software Drivers are available for all major operating system, the standard driver software will take the time from a ARC (Atomic Radio Clock) and synchronise the time on the computer that the Atomic Radio Clock is connected to.
TimeSynch -- Synchronise all time servers and workstations to the correct time.
TimeSynch is network NTP software that allows you to synchronise the time on workstations across a network. Running on Windows 2000, NT, 98, 95, or 3.11. TimeSynch will set the time on workstations at user defined time intervals, from every 3 seconds
TimeSynch uses the Network Time Protocol (NTP) which is the industry standard for time synchronisation across a network, companies such as CISCO are incorporating NTP into their routers and hubs.
TimeSynch will run as a service on Windows 2000 time server, NT time server and NT workstation. On all other Windows operating systems TimeSynch will run as a application.
The time is broadcast from the server, with the atomic clock attached, at time intervals specified by the user, to all others servers and workstations running the TimeSynch client software, because this is a broadcast that the other computers listen for, there is negligible network traffic overhead.
A Galleon ARC-Clock or GPS-Clock provides the accurate external time source that is used to synchronise the server which all other time servers or workstations then synchronise to using TimeSynch.
The main use by companies for TimeSynch is to synchronise all servers on a network to the same and correct time.
Operating systems covered by TimeSynch Windows 2000, Windows NT, NOVELL, UNIX, Windows 95/98, Windows 3.11, and VMS.
